Hi John,
I first saw the giant cockroaches at the Sternburg Museum and wanted to kidnap two of them to take home as pets! One would have been a lonely fella on his own so I would need two of them! Weird....perhaps, but oh so fascinating. I'd like to have a giant millipede for a pet too!

On the story about the man ran over by the train... The Lord must have something good planned for a lot of people through that man cause that man should, by all rights, be dead.

Interesting post! I enjoyed it! Thank you!

Hi Donna,

Are you sure? These types of cockroaches are very noisy types. I think there's a link to hear the sound they make on the National Geographic page. No kidding!

Yes, I totally agree with you, that there is surely something great that the Lord has planned for that man. Can't imagine why though, he was lying on the track in the first place.

Thanks for commenting, as always :)

I know the hissing roaches are noisy at times but I'd still like to have a couple of them for pets. Not to breed...no, no. Two of them would be more than enough to satisfy my curiosity about them...They're just really cool critters and I've had a few 'strange' pets over the years so why not giant roaches as well? I'd much rather have the giant milipede though cause he was just way too cool! I got to hold one at the state fair a few years ago that was about 9 inches long. It was ever so cool!
I really did enjoy this post of yours...very informative and entertaining!
